We’re building Sonar with you, not just for you. Our Feedback Portal gives you a place to share ideas, vote on what matters most, and see what’s coming next. In this article, we’ll show you how to get the most out of the portal and how your feedback helps influence what we build.

Less of a Suggestion Box, More of a Democracy

Once Sonar is integrated into your daily operations, it becomes more than just a tool. It’s part of your team, woven into your processes and relied on to support your day-to-day work. As your business grows and changes, Sonar needs to grow with it.

We are committed to building features and functionality that evolve alongside your needs. Some of our most valuable improvements have come directly from conversations with customers. That’s why we built the Feedback Portal: to turn those conversations into a consistent and transparent process, where your voice plays a clear role in shaping what comes next.

Feedback Portal

To be a true democracy, you (the people) need a voice, and we (the Republic of Sonar) must be transparent about our plans for the future. The Feedback Portal is where these two concepts meet.

Accessing the Portal

To open the Feedback Portal, click ? in the top-right corner of your Sonar instance to launch the Resource Center. From there, scroll down and select Feedback Portal. The portal will open directly within your current window as an overlay on top of your instance. While the portal doesn't display any account details, your ideas and votes are automatically tied to your user. This allows us to associate your feedback with your organization and keep you informed if the status of something you’ve interacted with changes.

Submitting an Idea to Sonar

If there’s something that would make your experience with Sonar better, we want to hear about it. From the Feedback Portal, click the Submit an Idea button to open a modal where you can tell us what you're trying to accomplish. The more clearly we understand the challenge, the better equipped we’ll be to know how Sonar can support a solution.

  1. What problem are you trying to solve?
Rather than jumping straight to a proposed solution, we encourage you to focus first on the problem. What’s getting in the way? What are you trying to achieve? That said, if you have a specific vendor or feature in mind, feel free to include those details.
  2. Importance
Let us know how critical this request is to your business by selecting either Must Have or Nice to Have. This helps us understand how the request fits into your daily operations and gives us valuable context when evaluating what to focus on.
The Feedback Portal not intended for reporting bugs, or seeking technical assistance with existing features/functionality. For these matters, please send an email to support@sonar.software, so our team can promptly address your needs.

Roadmap

The Now, Next, and On the Radar tabs make up the roadmap, offering a clear view of what’s underway, what’s planned, and what’s on the horizon.

Now

The Now tab displays all of the items we’re actively working on. These are features or improvements that are currently in development. While this section gives you insight into what’s in motion, it isn’t a reflection of release dates or timelines. Our team is hard at work, and progress updates will be shared as they become available.

Next

The Next tab highlights what’s on the horizon for our team. These are ideas that have been reviewed, validated, and selected for future development. While work hasn’t started yet, these items are lined up as part of our upcoming focus. Like the Now tab, this is not a guarantee of timeline, but it does reflect what we’re preparing to tackle soon.

On the Radar

The On the Radar tab displays ideas we’ve identified as valuable and are currently evaluating for future development. These items aren’t scheduled yet, but they’re under serious consideration by our team. Use the voting options to indicate how important an idea is to your business; this input allows us to better understand which needs are most in demand and helps guide future planning.

Feedback Items

The Feedback Items tab shows a focused set of ideas we’re currently reviewing and gathering additional input on. This isn’t a complete list of every submission, but a rotating selection where your feedback can provide the most value. If something you were following is no longer visible, it’s still being tracked internally. This focused view helps you spend less time sorting through ideas and more time providing input on the ones we’re currently most interested in gauging support for.

“Alright I told you what I want, so what happens next?”

Once you submit an idea, it enters our internal review process. Our Product team evaluates every submission to understand the problem it’s addressing, whether it relates to a broader platform need, or if it involves a potential integration with another vendor.

In some cases, your idea may relate to something we’re already tracking. If so, we’ll associate it with similar feedback to help inform our ongoing decisions. If it’s a new or unique request, it will be reviewed independently.

Not every submission will appear in the Feedback Portal, but every idea remains part of our internal system for ongoing evaluation. While we can’t guarantee a timeline or outcome, your input helps guide long-term planning and ensures we stay in tune with the needs of our users.

Initial Eligibility

In order for a submitted idea to move forward in our planning process, it needs to meet a few baseline criteria:

  • The feature doesn’t already exist.
If the functionality is already available in Sonar, our team will follow up to help you locate it and make sure it meets your needs. If the feature is already planned or in development, your feedback will be grouped with related requests and tracked as part of that effort.
  • The feature supports a broader need.
Because new features are rolled out to all users, we focus on functionality that benefits more than one specific use case. If something is too niche for wide release, it may not be a fit for core development. However, many unique workflows can still be supported through our API or third-party integrations, and we're happy to explore those paths with you.
  • The feature is technically viable.
While very few ideas are ruled out due to technical limits, we do consider how proposed changes might impact the existing platform. If a feature would compromise stability or disrupt core functionality, we may need to defer or decline it in its current form. Our goal is to protect the integrity of the platform while continuing to evolve it in meaningful ways.

Contributing to What Comes Next

Ideas in the Feedback Portal reflect a combination of customer input, internal strategy, and ongoing evaluation. While only a portion of all feedback is shown at any given time, what’s visible represents areas where we're either actively working, planning ahead, or gathering support for future consideration. Each card includes voting options that let you indicate how important something is to your business. These votes provide valuable context for our team as we continue shaping what comes next.

The portal is continuously updated. Cards may rotate out as priorities shift, decisions are made, or development begins. If you’ve submitted feedback or voted on an idea that moves forward, you will receive an automated email from our system anytime meaningful progress has been made. Behind the scenes, feedback is reviewed and assessed on an ongoing basis. Even if an idea isn’t visible, it remains part of the larger scope that informs how Sonar evolves.

Each Sonar user in your organization is eligible to participate in this process, so make sure to encourage your employees/coworkers to visit the Feedback Portal too!
