The SKU field provides a consistent, system-friendly identifier that reduces catalog errors and helps external platforms match items reliably. The Product Description field provides a clean, customer-facing description that storefronts can display clearly so end users understand the offer at a glance.

Permissions

Before getting started with the feature, your user roles will need to be adjusted to account for the permissions required to use the Services and Packages feature.

If you're a Super Admin, you already have full access and no changes are needed. To learn more, see the Roles and Permissions article.

Stock Keeping Units (SKU)

This section explains how SKUs are created, what rules they must follow, and how they connect to Services and Packages. You can manage SKUs by navigating to Settings > Billing > SKUs.

From this page, you can create SKUs and track which Service or Package they are associated with. SKUs are designed to be clean identifiers for third-party catalogs, so each SKU must be unique across your entire instance and kept short for easier tracking.

SKU Requirements:

  1. Maximum length: 16 characters
  2. Must be unique across the entire instance

SKU Examples:

  1. INT1000-RES
  2. FIBER500_BIZ
  3. VOICE-UNL

Creating a SKU

SKUs are managed from the dedicated settings page, SKU, to create, view, edit, and delete SKUs as well as to see which Service or Package a SKU is attached to.

To create a SKU, navigate to the Create SKU button.

Once the modal opens, fill in the appropriate fields necessary.

  1. Create a new SKU by entering a Code (required).
  2. (Optional) Enter a Product Description.
The Product Description provides a clean, external-facing description of a Service or Package that displays well in e-commerce storefronts and catalog partners. The value main include special characters or numbers and supports up to 500 characters.

Examples include: “High-speed fiber internet for residential use”, “Unlimited local and long-distance calling”, and “Business-grade 500 Mbps fiber plan”.

Add or update a Product Description:
    1.
Open the Service or Package you want to update from the SKU table and select Edit.
    2. Enter or update the Product Description using plain text.
    3. Save.
  3. (Optional) Select Service or Package for the Entity Type.
  4. Click Create to save the SKU.

Editing or Deleting a SKU

To edit or delete a SKU simply use the actions menu for the SKU you want to remove.

  1. Select Edit which will open the Edit SKU modal.
  2. Select the arrow to click the Delete option.
SKUs can be deleted even if they are currently assigned to a Service or Package.

Assigning a SKU to a Service or Package

A SKU can be attached to either a Service or a Package, but it can only be attached to one item at a time. SKUs may be assigned in two ways: by editing the target Service or Package and selecting a SKU in the SKU field (which supports selecting an existing SKU or creating a new SKU inline via a modal during the edit flow) or from the SKU table list view by selecting a SKU and assigning it to a Service or Package directly from the list view (with the same one-to-one constraint enforced).

Assigning from the Service or Package
  1. Open the Service or Package you want to update and select Edit.
  2. Locate the SKU field.
  3. Select an existing SKU, or create a new SKU in the modal and save (the SKU is automatically selected after creation).
  4. Save the Service or Package.
Assigning from the SKU Table View
  1. Go to SettingsBillingSKUs.
  2. Find the SKU line item you want to assign, then select the drop-down arrow on that row. Click Assign.
  3. In the Edit SKU modal:
    1. Select an Entity Type.
    2. Select the related Service or Package (based on the Entity Type you chose).
  4. Click Save to finish.
After assignment, the SKU list/table reflects which Service or Package the SKU is attached to, making it easier to confirm usage at a glance.
